Sophie Murray, led by Peter Glenser KC (9BR Chambers), successfully prosecuted Rahul Sharma who was accused of the rape and murder of Helen Kempster in July 2022 after a 3 week trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Rahul Sharma, a schizophrenic, claimed to be hearing voices at the time of the killing, but the jury did not believe him and took 2 hrs 45 minutes to convict him. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years.
