Thomas began his pupillage at Chambers in October 2025.
Whilst studying for his undergraduate degree, Tom gained a wide range of experience in different areas of law. Most notably, he spent time working on a Pro Bono Project which provided research into the accusations of Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII) and its application by local authorities and hospitals. The report has since been presented to Parliament.
He also volunteered at the Welfare Appeals and Tribunal Clinic with the Citizens Advice Bureau, where he assisted in the litigation process by drafting notes and interviewing clients who were awaiting tribunal hearings to appeal the rejection of their PIP or ESA claims.
Thomas also gained experience at Leeds City Council’s Legal Department and Procurement and Commercial Services. There, he contributed to an internal review of the council’s insurance strategies, and worked with the Housing and Civil Litigation team by reviewing s11 LTA 1985 claims, as well as drafting possession claims to be served in court.
