Overview
Karamjit acts in a broad range of business and property disputes, advising and appearing for companies, individuals, landlords, tenants, executors, trustees and commercial clients. He is instructed to provide clear, practical advice at an early stage, to identify the real issues in dispute, and to represent clients through to trial where settlement cannot be achieved on satisfactory terms.
His caseload involves both real property and commercial disputes, with experience in boundary disputes, enfranchisement, adverse possession, building disputes, contentious probate and consumer motor finance litigation. He is recognised for careful case analysis, practical advice, tight pleadings and measured but effective advocacy.
Karamjit is a qualified mediator, having completed mediation training through the Society of Mediators. That experience complements his practice by sharpening his ability to identify the real issues in dispute, approach cases constructively, and assist parties in reaching practical and proportionate resolutions where settlement is achievable. It also informs his work more broadly, particularly in matters requiring careful advice, effective negotiation and sound judgment, and he is often instructed on urgent hearings and applications for interim relief where required
He regularly receives instructions in the following areas –
- Boundary disputes: disputes concerning boundaries, trespass, rights of way, easements and restrictive covenants.
- Enfranchisement: leasehold enfranchisement claims, including contested applications.
- Adverse possession: claims involving registered and unregistered land, factual possession, intention to possess and disputes arising from competing occupation.
- Building disputes: claims arising from defective works, delay, workmanship, contractual performance and associated questions of loss.
- Contentious probate: disputes concerning the validity of wills, testamentary capacity and undue influence.
- Consumer motor finance disputes: claims arising from motor finance agreements, including issues of commission, unfair relationships, disclosure, misrepresentation, regulatory compliance and associated consumer law remedies.
What instructing solicitors say
“I think Karamjit is an excellent Barrister, his calm but clear approach with the judge and the forensic understanding of our case is always so reassuring.”
“Client was really impressed and very grateful for all your efforts at both trials. It’s very clear to them you put up an extremely robust fight for today’s trial to proceed and put our best case forward, despite a very hostile and frustrating Judge. So wanted to make sure I pass that on. And add my thanks for giving our client such good service.”
Your Skeleton Argument reads exceptionally well and the outcome is great as it provides time for hopefully a settlement and additional pressure to settle.
