Imaan is a criminal barrister with a busy Crown Court practice, acting for both the prosecution and the defence. She has experience across a broad range of serious criminal cases, including offences of violence, drugs, burglary, money laundering and sexual offences. Her practice encompasses youth matters as well as complex historic sexual offence cases.
Imaan completed her pupillage with the Crown Prosecution Service and continued there, progressing to District Crown Prosecutor level. This experience has given her the tools to prosecute fearlessly yet assisted her in her defence practice. She has the confidence to analyse and robustly challenge the prosecution’s case when defending. She is a CPS level grade 2 advocate.
A confident and persuasive advocate, Imaan combines meticulous preparation with a practical and focused approach. She is skilled at identifying the central issues in complex evidence and presenting them clearly and effectively. Having prosecuted, defended and been part of the Crown Prosection service she brings sound judgment, strategic insight and determined advocacy to every case.
Imaan places considerable importance on ensuring that clients understand both the proceedings and the advice they receive. She is approachable, builds rapport with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and is particularly sensitive to the needs of vulnerable clients. She has significant experience in conducting s.28 hearings involving young children and teenagers. Her representation is clear, practical and thoughtful, tailored to the circumstances and needs of each client.
Imaan accepts instructions across all areas of criminal law and continues to develop a practice involving increasingly serious and complex Crown Court work.
She is also developing a regulatory practice, regularly accepting instructions and providing advice in disciplinary and regulatory matters. She has represented the Metropolitan Police and the Royal College of Nursing in disciplinary hearings and regularly accepts instructions on behalf of local authorities.
