We are delighted that 2024 has been another successful year for St Ives, having again cemented our reputation as “undoubtedly the leading set of chambers in the Midlands”, with a number of our members featuring in the Legal 500 2025 edition.
Our rankings have been particularly pleasing with top tier rankings in family law (children and domestic violence) and social housing. We are also ranked as a leading set in family (divorce and financial remedy), crime and property and construction.
Chambers remains “a heavyweight set with a deservedly fine reputation in the Midlands for family and children law work”, being described as “always the go-to set” for children matters. The family finance team is highlighted as being the “market leaders in divorce and financial remedy work in the West Midlands”. The social housing team are noted to “field a strong team of housing law specialists…with considerable experience” and our criminal team is described as including “exceptionally talented” barristers. The provision of ADR within our family team continues to be recognised.
43 of our individual members were ranked and we are proud that our rankings cover the full spectrum of experience inclusive of silks, leading juniors and a number of newly ranked rising stars, demonstrating the wealth of talent throughout Chambers.
Particular praise is reserved for our dedicated clerking teams, who have been recognised to “match the ability of the barristers under their care” and who continue to be “extremely helpful and go out of their way to assist.”

Our three exceptional pupils accepted tenancy and five more pupils commenced their training with us at the start of October. As recognised by the Legal 500, our “training is excellent, and those who they take on as pupils are diligent, approachable, and keen to learn.”
As we look to 2025, we eagerly anticipate the opening of our new premises in Nottingham, making us the only set of chambers on the Midland Circuit to offer a comprehensive service across the East and West parts. Our additional premises follows us welcoming 11 new members in September of this year, who joined us from KCH Garden Square. We remain committed to our ethos of excellence across all of our practice areas, and we remain proud of being a true common law set of chambers.
