At St Ives, providing a first class service is at the heart of our business model. We recognise the importance of working in partnership with our clients to ensure consistent and effective delivery of services from initial instruction until case completion.

The Chancery and Commercial team offers a comprehensive range of expertise and enjoys an ever prosperous reputation both locally and nationally, with the team itself and individual members highly recommended in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

The quality and breadth of the team itself is particularly impressive, with both junior and senior barristers adept at handling smaller advisory matters right through to multifaceted, high value litigation.

We understand that a solutions driven approach is required across the full spectrum of chancery and commercial matters; members therefore provide a pragmatic and effective approach to advisory work, drafting pleadings and documents, advocacy at trial and other hearings from the outset. This quality and focus allows us to offer accomplished and experienced advocates in a proportionate and cost effective manner.

Local Government

St Ives Chambers has a long established history of working with Local Authorities and our members are sensitive to the particular demands of acting for public bodies.

Our barristers act for government departments and executive agencies, local authorities, regulators and law enforcement agencies and they are well accustomed to working with lawyers and other professionals in the public sector.

In-House Counsel

An increasing number of instructions come from in-house lawyers, predominantly working in the financial, insolvency and property sectors.

Clients particularly benefit from the knowledge and approachability of our members.

Alternative Dispute Resolution

Chambers is committed to Alternative Dispute Resolution and boasts facilities to host such matters. Members represent parties in Mediation, Arbitration and other forms of settlement negotiations.

Continued Professional Development

Chambers is a fully certified training provider with a rolling programme of seminars, articles and other legal updates.

Members also participate in training or marketing opportunities presented by professionals to their clients.

Clerking & Services

The Chancery and Commercial team enjoy the support of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable clerking team. Led by Ross Hands “a very effective clerk, who adopts a down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach”, the clerking team “will bend over backwards to accommodate” our clients’ needs and requirements.

They work closely with clients to ensure the highest level of service is provided and maintained.

Public & Direct Access

Where appropriate, instructions are accepted via the public, direct & licensed access scheme. This allows individuals or companies to undertake their own litigation whilst instructing a barrister to advise, draft documents and attend court hearings, without the need for a solicitor or other intermediary.

Chambers utilises the assistance of BarCo in all cases.

Please contact a member of the clerking team if you have any enquiries.
