Background:

Jason regularly appears at all stages of both public and private law proceedings in the Family Proceedings Court, the County Court and the High Court.  Jason regularly undertakes both a range of public and private law work. In the sphere of public law, Jason has successfully represented local authorities, parents, grandparents and children – multi-day hearings in the Family Proceedings Court, the County Court and the High Court. He is a confident and dedicated advocate in contested interim care hearings, direction, IRHs, applications for further assessments and contact hearings.  Jason has also recently been instructed in a successful ten day fact finding hearing in respect of allegations of physical chastisement in the West Country. 

In private law matters, Jason is regularly instructed at all stages of proceedings, in the Family Proceedings Court, the County Court and High Court, including appeals. Matters where Jason has acted include fact finding hearings containing the most serious of allegations, including sexual allegations, forced marriage and cultural disputes. He has undertaken injunctions under the Family Law Act, cost applications and issues regarding change of surname.

He has also recently successfully concluded a complex 5-day private law children action and has experience in cases involving the appointment of R16.4 Guidelines. Jason is able to provide written advice on all areas of family law.

Jason is particularly praised by solicitors for being a tough negotiator with a no nonsense style and for being particularly popular with clients for his thorough and patient approach to family proceedings. Jason has over twenty years’ experience having originally qualified as a solicitor and becoming a partner in a private practice in London.

In 2012 Jason was awarded the MBE for his services to pro bono law. 

Jason writes regularly for the New Law Journal, the Law Society Gazette and the Legal Executive Journal. He also appears as a legal expert on radio for both the BBC and commercial stations. He was from 2008-2010 radio lawyer on LBC where he provided legal advice to the listeners of London.

In 2006, Jason became the Law Society's YSG In House Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year. In 2008, Jason was a member of the human rights Caravana to Colombia.

Jason also lectures extensively on family law, negotiation and ADR.
