Greg's practice is exclusively family orientated; He deals with applications concerning children and also matrimonial and family finance.
In respect of Children Act matters Greg practices in the County Court and High Court and has experience representing parties in the Court of Appeal. The major part of his children practice is concerned with public law proceedings in which he has experience of dealing with issues including non-accidental injuries, factitious illness, sexual abuse as well as neglect and cases involving emotional abuse. Greg has acted for Local Authorities, parents and children.
Private law applications are increasingly more acrimonious particularly as more parents find themselves acting in person. Greg has experience in a number of cases acting for children in private law proceedings where one or both parents is unrepresented.
Family work generally and children work in particular requires a sensitive and pragmatic approach; emotions run high and common sense is frequently in short supply. Greg prides himself on assisting people through these difficult and stressful proceedings through a careful and sensitive attitude, offering realistic advice and firm representation.
In respect of money matters Greg has experience dealing with ancillary relief, TOLATA claims and applications under schedule 1 Children Act 1989. The majority of the "money' work Greg undertakes is ancillary relief. He provides a sensible analysis of the issues; what he believes is achievable and what is "pie in the sky'. Aspirations and expectations on occasion need grounding or redirecting. Through careful preparation and assessment of the case achievable positions may be taken which frequently find favour with the court. Greg has dealt with cases involving family businesses, foreign property and fraud.
